Catalyst Studios believes films can have a positive social impact by exploring facets of lives often overlooked and also by the manner in which we make our films. Our model endeavors to prove that stories can be entertaining, thought provoking, socially responsible and fiscally profitable. Gender pay equality matched with opportunities for the under-represented in front of and behind the camera makes a more rounded work environment and serves the project at every level.
Because we are filmmaker centered, our approach as a co-producer is to serve the needs of the production as well as the director’s vision first and foremost. Our satellite companies in Serbia and Puerto Rico were established because we are producing/investing in those territories as well. Because of our own work, we have built relationships with the key partners in those regions from the Film Commissioner’s office to the key department heads with dozens of years of experience.
Production In Serbia
Catalyst Belgrade is an arm of the company that expanded through the relationships built to produce the feature film and subsequent television series entitled ‘Harvest.’ Serbia is a unique and underutilized location in Eastern Europe for high level film and television production. Many locations in the country easily double for locations in the United States, plus it has stages and experienced crews that have been creating award winning content for decades. Although a long plane trip away, the benefits to production are significant.
Production In Puerto Rico
Catalyst Puerto Rico is a full-service production and co-production entity that extends Catalyst’s fair business practices to the Island, with the added advantage of having support from our team in Los Angeles. Puerto Rico is one of the most active film and television production territories in the United States. It not only has high level, experienced crews on the island, it provides one of the highest tax rebates in the world.
